If you live
in a climate where the winters freeze hard enough (or near and ice skating
rink) this kind of party is a lot of fun.
Activities
Of course, the main activity with this kind of party is the ice skating. Have
guests meet you at the pond (or rink) or at your home to travel as a group.
Refreshments
Think warm thoughts (and warm foods!). Hot homemade soup, stew or chili (kept
warm in the crock pot while skating) are great ways to warm up cold bodies
after a fun time skating. Whatever you choose make sure you have lots of
extras for your guests to add (sour cream, shredded cheese, salsa, bacon,
croutons, crackers & corn bread just to name a few!). A variety is always
nice, why not make a couple of kinds of soup for your guests to choose from
and a big pot of chili. Around here, we would have homemade chicken noodle
with lots of veggies & creamy potato. To keep the casual feel, make a dessert
buffet with cookies, candy (homemade fudge maybe), seasoned or chocolate
covered nuts, spiced cider and eggnog.
Guest Goodies
Make goodie bags for your guests by filling colored cellophane bags with a
sampling of your dessert buffet. Tie with a pretty ribbon and add an ice skate
ornament for that extra special touch.
