Beeswax Candles

Candle lovers everywhere have long been aware that natural beeswax is far and away the most pleasant and cleanest material for candle making.

Beeswax candles burn nearly twice as long as commercially produced paraffin candles and will not drip or smoke the way their toxic counterparts do.

Kept free from excessive drafts, natural beeswax candles will burn evenly right down to the end, producing a quality of flame superior to other kinds of candles.

Studies have shown that the spectrum of light emitted from a burning beeswax is almost identical to that of sunlight!

Obviously bees really know their stuff! A little-known fact about beeswax candles is that beeswax is a fuel that, when burned, emits negative ions. Like a negatively charged rain-storm event, negative ions attach to positively charged ions that are holding dust, molds and other contaminants airborne and cause them to disseminate.

Below are a few tips that will help your candles perform better, and give you a more pleasurable candle light experience.

  • The first time you light the wick burn it for one hour per inch in diameter. This will prevent the wax from burning that big tunnel in the middle, while leaving the sides unburned.

  • Always keep the wick trimmed to one-quarter inch, this should prevent smoking.

  • To prevent fading you should avoid placing them in direct sunlight.

  • Store in a cool, dry place.

  • To easily remove votive candles from their holders, place them (cooled) in the freezer. When frozen, the wax will pop out. Or you may simply add a teaspoon of water in the holders before lighting.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

  • Place on a sturdy, appropriate size, non-flammable holder.

  • Never burn completely. Dispose of it when it burns to within one inch of the base or holder. This can cause the container to crack, and debris could ignite.

  • Remove all labels before you light the wick.
