Tips and Tidbits

A local steak house serves a drink similar to this, and it was the only thing we were impressed with at our visit.  They wouldn't share the recipe so I worked up my own.  *Ü*  Now it's a New Year's Eve tradition, I make it for the girls using oranges from Christmas.

Snowflakes

4-6 scoops vanilla ice cream
1 cup pina colada mix
1-2 T marichino cherry juice

2 fresh oranges, peeled and quartered
milk (to thin mixture to desired consistency)

Combine ice cream, pina colada mix, orange pieces, cherry juice and ice in blender.  Process until there are only small pieces of ice in the mix.  All of the amounts are estimates in this recipe, add more or less of anything you like.  I serve this in our special stemware with a wintery scene and top with a cherry.

Just a note: Pina colada mix is non-alcoholic so you don't have to worry about giving this to the kids.  I'm sure you could make an "adult" version by adding rum if you like.
